Achilles Corporation is a Japan-based company engaged in the manufacture and sale of industrial materials, plastic products and shoes. The Company operates in three business segments. The Industrial Materials segment's major products include electromagnetic induction (EMI) shields, heat conductive sheets, polystyrene foam products, flooring materials for commercial establishments, polyurethane materials and floor mats. The Shoes segment offers shoes under the brand names of Ecco, Skechers, Saucony and Spalding. The Plastic Products segment offers polyolefin film, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) leather, biodegradable film and fireproof film. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, the Company has 30 subsidiaries and five associated companies.

1947	May	Kohkoku Chemical Industry（currently Achilles） established; production and sales of rubber products begin.
1948	Apr	PVC product production begins.
1957	Apr	Large-scale factory constructed in the Yamabe District, Ashikaga City.
1961	Oct	Technical cooperation with ICI of Great Britain is launched; polyurethane foam production begins.
1962	Jul	A new automatic shoemaking machine from Desma Co. of Germany is introduced to strengthen the Shoes Business Group.
1962	Sep	The company’s stock is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1964	Feb	Ashikaga factory’s first computer system is introduced. Head office is relocated from Shintomi-cho to the present location in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
1965	Oct	Achilles K.C.I. Co. is established in New York.
1969	Jul	Ashikaga No.2 Factory is constructed to bolster the production of industrial materials such as rigid urethane shells, and materials for automobile interiors.
1970	Feb	Japan Viking, Co. established via joint venture with Viking Engineering Co., Ltd. of the U.K.
1971	Aug	Bako Co., Ltd. established by a joint venture with Bata Shoes Financial Corp. of Canada; production of arctic boots by the slush molding method begins.
1973	Feb	Achilles Hong Kong Co., Ltd. is established in order to gain a foothold in the East and Southeast Asian markets.
1973	Nov	Kohkoku USA, Inc. （presently known as Achilles USA,Inc.） is established in Everett, Washington; production and sales of PVC films in the U.S.A. begins.
1981	Apr	The company teams up with Spalding Sports Worldwide Inc. of the U.S.A. to expand operations in the high-class sports shoes market.
1982	Feb	The company’s name is changed to Achilles Corporation.
1982	Jul	Technical cooperation with Eccolet （currently ECCO Sko A/S） of Denmark is begun for the production of “ECCO” shoes. Convertible corporate bonds are issued in Swiss Francs.
1983	Dec	Second issue of convertible corporate bonds in Swiss Francs.
1986	Jun	Technical tie-up formed with A.S. Creation of Germany （currently A.S. Creation Tapeten AG）.
1987	Aug	R&D Center opens at Ashikaga No.1 Factory.
1988	Mar	Technical cooperation with Tarkett Sommer AG of Sweden, relating to the manufacture of industrial flooring materials, begins.
1992	Jan	Guangzhou Supatra Ltd. a subsidiary shoemaking company is established in China.
1993	Sep	A contract is signed with Stride Rite of the U.S.A. A contract is signed with Societe D'Information et de Creations which gives Achilles the right of use of the "Marie Claire Sports" trademark.
1993	Dec	Kunshan Achilles Artificial Leather is established via joint venture in China; production of PVC leather begins there.
1994	May	Exclusive contract signed with Skechers of the U.S.A. to sell Skechers brand shoes in Japan.
1995	Feb	Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour is received from the Royal House of Denmark; Chairman Tonooka is honored with a letter of appreciation from the National Association for Danish Enterprise.
1998	May	The wall materials factory and Achilles USA are given ISO 9001 certification.
1998	Nov	Sales are launched for the environmentally-sound futuristic olefin film “Povic-T”.
1998	Dec	Production of the revolutionary new electron conjugated conductive polymer “ST-Poly” begins.
1999	May	Sales of environmentally-sound futuristic wallpaper begin.
1999	Oct	A health support business project team is launched as the company expands into the nursing-care industry.
1999	Nov	A contract is signed with Saucony of the U.S.A.
2001	Dec	Achilles E-tech （Dongguan） Co., Ltd. is established in Guangdong, China; this company specializes in processing HDD-related products with conductive ST-Poly treatment to prevent electrostatic lastures.
2002	Sep	All seven plants as well as all group companies in Japan attain ISO 14001 certification.
2002	Oct	Achilles （Shanghai） International Trading Co., Ltd. is established for the sales and import/export of Achilles products in China.
2004	Feb	Operations begin at the Kunshan （China） Achilles Artificial Leather Second Factory.
2005	Dec	Achilles Technical Center opens at Ashikaga No.1 Factory. Production of the conductive precise injection-molded parts for the office automation equipment and hard disk begins at Achilles E-tech (Dongguan) Co.,Ltd..
2006	Jan	Entrusted contract signed with Canadian General-Tower Limited to manufacture Paste Leather for automotive trim covers in China.
