The Industrial Materials segment's major products include electromagnetic induction (EMI) shields, heat conductive sheets, polystyrene foam products, flooring materials for commercial establishments, polyurethane materials and floor mats. The Shoes segment offers shoes under the brand names of Ecco, Skechers, Saucony and Spalding. The Plastic Products segment offers polyolefin film, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) leather, biodegradable film and fireproof film. 1947 May Kohkoku Chemical Industryicurrently Achillesj established; production and sales of rubber products begin.
1948 Apr PVC product production begins.
1957 Apr Large-scale factory constructed in the Yamabe District, Ashikaga City.
1961 Oct Technical cooperation with ICI of Great Britain is launched; polyurethane foam production begins.
1962 Jul A new automatic shoemaking machine from Desma Co. of Germany is introduced to strengthen the Shoes Business Group.
1962 Sep The companyfs stock is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1964 Feb Ashikaga factoryfs first computer system is introduced. Head office is relocated from Shintomi-cho to the present location in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
1965 Oct Achilles K.C.I. Co. is established in New York.
1969 Jul Ashikaga No.2 Factory is constructed to bolster the production of industrial materials such as rigid urethane shells, and materials for automobile interiors.
1970 Feb Japan Viking, Co. established via joint venture with Viking Engineering Co., Ltd. of the U.K.
1971 Aug Bako Co., Ltd. established by a joint venture with Bata Shoes Financial Corp. of Canada; production of arctic boots by the slush molding method begins.
1973 Feb Achilles Hong Kong Co., Ltd. is established in order to gain a foothold in the East and Southeast Asian markets.

1981 Apr The company teams up with Spalding Sports Worldwide Inc. of the U.S.A. to expand operations in the high-class sports shoes market.
